This officially marks the 11 month marker for the project, so after the merry month of December the song a week project will be put to rest. Today I tried to write something for someone special in my life who’s listened along each week, and given me a little push to keep going with this. Thanks to everyone who’s still here from the beginning of the year. Writing something with meaning is a bit more difficult than rambling random bullshit off the top of your head.

I am not a religious feller at all, but i do really like singing about Jesus for some odd reason.

No story behind this one. Snuck it in quick while Carri was getting a massage for her birthday on Saturday. Just got around to posting it for the week. Thanks as always for listening.

Last January, my day job took everyone to NYC for a book launch/holiday party. While we were there Jonathan Kane just happened to be playing a show in a “almost impossible” place to find called Project Issue Lodge in an industrial part of Brooklyn. (that is probably the wrong name, but i thought i’d attempt recollecting the name of the venue) Needless to say, watching JK and a band of 4 other amazing musicians playing the “February” record was beyond amazing. Imagine the third floor of an old warehouse building with whitewashed walls, faded hardwood floors, $5.00 cans of Tecate beer, Jon Mueller pumping his fists to a pulsating set of dirty blues that had been recreated for a modern avante garde New York hipster crowd. (In no way am I poking fun at said crowd of smiling music enthusiasts).

Well! That show has and will be forever burned into my memory as one of the most amazing musical experiences I will ever be part of. Not only was the music something to remember, but sharing that night with Dylan, Kat, Jon, Teresa, Kate, Meg, Ken, Elvis, and a beautiful group of foreign New Yorkers made that night something that will never be replicated.

That night has everything to do with why I wrote a song this week. It isn’t anywhere close to the quality of what we all saw that night, but it is my own tribute to a piece in time that none of us there that night are likely to forget.

I’ll be posting last weeks song tomorrow. Had it done, haven’t had time to post it and tumblr only allows one song per day.

This was actually 3 minutes longer but had to chop it down so that tumblr would allow me to post it. Hey tumblr! Kindly increase you MB allowance to more that 10MB. On second thought, you’d all probably end up having to listen to 14 minute songs each week.

The Off Key song of the Week. “Human Nature” (I think i’m over fourty of so songs for the year, but lost count about 4 months ago.)
